  • In other words, with this Acer netbook, mouse, ear buds and hub, you’ll be marginally readier than you already are for a fairly narrow category of specifically defined activities. Which doesn’t convey nearly as much excitement as “ready for anything,” but there we are.

For instance, there’s no way this Acer netbook’s 160-gig hard drive prepares you for a meteorite crushing your house. And its Intel Atom Processor doesn’t equip you at all to cope with a crisis of sexual identity.

  • Oh, I am so excited about this new toy! I’ll use it to post comments on all of your blogs during the next few weeks, to get the hang of it. The Acer netbook is not as powerful and multi-faceted as a laptop, but the price is right and so is the size. I like it a lot.

I never thought I would get to appreciate an Acer mini laptop, but the Aspire One D260 really proved me Acer netbooks evolved a lot in these last years. In fact, with products like these, there’s no wonder they are the best selling brand in this segment.

  • It looks like that funky Acer netbook with the dented lid that we at MWC wasn't a one-off. The company just released the Aspire One 722, an 11-inch mini with the same aesthetic (and a likely successor to the ). Like the D257 we saw in Barcelona, its lid is made of molded plastic, sculpted to resemble a series of ripples. Spec-wise, it has the same innards as the more staid-looking , pairing AMD's netbook-class 1GHz with Radeon HD 6250 graphics. But the 722 improves on the 10-inch 522 with higher 1366 x 768 resolution, two speakers instead of one, and rated battery life of up to seven hours -- a boost over the 522's six-hour max. No word yet on pricing or availability, but for now you can content yourself with some official press shots.

Another new member is going to join the Acer’s Aspire TimelineX family. Dubbed as the 1830T Slimline series, this Acer netbook has 11.6-inch screen size, which is apparently a bit bigger that the common netbook, and it has the support 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. As for the performance, Acer Aspire TimelineX 1830T Netbook is offering Intel Core i5 520UM low power consumption CPU at the speed of 1.06Ghz. It might seem low, but the CPU is boost-able to 1.86Ghz using Intel’s Turbo Boost.
